Introduced in the 21st century, the training of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu, along with the “Kimu Training System,” has enriched and diversified the established Haedong Kumdo practice with Ssangkum (two swords) system, providing more motivation and a sense of achievement to practitioners in the globe.

Through such training, practitioners can understand the principles and essence of martial arts and pursue a system optimized for martial arts training that connects to healing and a quality life.

This system emphasizes:

Physically:
Training techniques such as Weisu Kum(single-handed sword), Ssangsu Kum(double-handed sword), and Ssangkum(double swords).

Mentally:
Encouraging creative thoughts through changes and innovations in the practitioner’s consciousness.

The goal of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu Haedong Kumdo is to help practitioners develop better martial skills and lead a healthy, happy, and prosperous life.

While some modern martial arts systems systematically utilize energy flow, the training of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu allows practitioners, from beginners to advanced, to feel the flow of energy and understand its connection to healing

Through this training, practitioners aim to achieve “Self-acquirement” or “Self-magnetization,” leading to the formation of the ‘Kimu-body.’

Practitioners learn not only in martial arts training but also in daily life to connect with healing through Mindfulness(마음챙김),
Awareness(알아차림),
Normal Mind(평상심),
and Even Breathing(고른호흡).

Recognizing energy flow means approaching the essence of energy in nature and realizing the reality of human life.

The training system of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu is based on the premise that:

Energy is conscious, alive, and not owned by me, nor is my body owned by me.

This perspective broadens the view from a natural standpoint, allowing “Self-reflection” and “Resolution or determination” from an objective viewpoint, fostering “Gratitude”, and nurturing a sense of fairness and justice in viewing the world.

It implies the unity of the physical and mental self.

Mastering this allows one to understand the principles of “Self-Acquirement” and recognize that light energy is the Love of Nature through repeated experiences. It helps one realize the significance of being born to study (practice), and understand expressions like “Light embraces and teaches me” or “if I just get in the car, it takes me and teaches me.”

Not only that, but on a religious level, one becomes aware of what the Buddha-nature is and what the experience of forming the Holy Trinity is, meaning the realization of the existence of an entity that teaches humanity. This also involves recognizing the entity that leads meditation or prayer.

This is the greatest enlightenment a human can achieve during their lifetime.

It elevates one’s martial arts training and life to a higher level.

While other martial arts seek to control and develop the flow of energy on their own from the beginning,
Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu emphasizes accepting and embracing the energy naturally from the beginning to the last.

Based on this acceptance, it is important to master the harmony and balance of energy (healing).

In other words, the main subject of training is nature, and the key is to actually experience the energy given by nature.

This is why even beginners are encouraged to repeatedly experience the principle of ‘Involuntary Body Movement.’

In conclusion, spreading and transmitting Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu Haedong Kumdo worldwide means mastering a pattern of martial arts based on the principles and truth of nature, refining both body and mind.

This is closely connected to skills, philosophy, and healing.

In martial arts, transmission, skills, philosophy, and healing must be integrated. If martial arts are viewed through the structural principles of the threefold philosophy, this makes sense. Otherwise, it means not understanding the core and essence, having neither learned nor taught properly, leading to an incomplete understanding.

Recognizing this reveals the natural connection between these three elements.

This content was first introduced in the 21st century through the English book “Searching for the Forgotten Half in Martial Arts.””

The English version is currently available worldwide, while the Korean translation is prepared but not yet released.
