2) What is Enlightenment?
We are told to be natural in everything we do.
Of course this is easier said than done.
The idea is not complicated but to have this self awareness
in everyday life is not simple.
Other than sickness due to injury, mostly when we fall ill,
it is either due to stress or bad diet.
When we are in balance, the body is able to cope and heal itself
even if we are under stress and badly nourished.
As we grow older however, often the body’s ability to self heal seems to be diminished.
This can sometimes mean that by the time we are aware of the symptoms of a problem,
we are already in a serious condition.
Most often the onset of serious illnesses such as diabetes or high blood pressure,
have their roots in an unbalanced lifestyle and unwholesome thought patterns
that have been practised for many years.
We should learn to understand that our own existence in the world
is but just one grain of sand on the beach of life.
This is why we should try to follow the balanced law of nature.
It is for this reason that so many wise men and religious leaders
have repeatedly taught us to love and respect each other.
To follow the true law of Nature is based on having a loving attitude
not only to others but also to oneself.
The true meaning of love is not just limited to the romantic love
between man and a woman, but the ability to feel no limits
and to fully possess the life energy of the Universe.
The law of Nature is very simple,
even a young child is able to comprehend this.
To stay in balance with nature in the ‘rat race’ of modern living
is not so easy to put into practise however.
This imbalance then leads to exhaustion and illness and even in some cases premature death.
Enlightenment can be said to having the awareness of things in one’s daily life
that we didn’t have before. Once you gain awareness of things in your daily life
that you were previously ignorant of, then this is the beginning of enlightenment.
“Enlighten” means to be balanced, to know oneself better and to be honest with oneself
ie. I’m not the best, I’m not the most clever, I’m not always right etc.
Being normal could be described as having self balance.
Enlightenment can be found in all our daily lives.
Once we stop unnatural behaviour and thought patterns,
we begin to feel comfortable and happy,
then the energy that we exude tends to
make others around us feel comfortable and happy too.
This can also be explained as the principle of natural balance.
Another thing we should contemplate on is self-respect or caring for ourselves,
which will be covered more in a later article.
