Ants and Beetles

Tonight, the distant sea is unusually filled with fishing boats, illuminating the calm night sea with bright lights.

They diligently search through the unseen waters, struggling tirelessly throughout the night to survive.

On the other side, the night in this Oryukdo Park is incredibly peaceful. On this particular night, the bikies adorned their mopeds with dazzling headlights and lined up on the Ohryukdo Skywalk, shining brilliantly as if in their own world.

Even stray cats seem to be at ease, as if everything in the world belongs to them. The tall lotus flowers standing tall at night catch one’s eye.

The vibrant lights from the fishing boats in the distant sea, the cozy lights shining through apartment windows, create a striking contrast that captivates the heart.

The fishermen on the boats hope for a bountiful catch of fish today, though it may be in the depths of the water,

unseen by the eyes and untouched by their hands, the countless experiences of their past struggles instill confidence and hope.

This boat, that boat, yours and mine, all prepared in a similar manner. Only when the fish come in, it becomes my catch. It becomes mine as much as it comes in.

Human life is the same.

With desires, needs, and goals,

but being unable to see a step ahead

is what makes us human.

Even if we bow hundreds or thousands of times, even if we pray day and night throughout our lives, there is no guaranteed way for our wishes to come true.

The world is fundamentally fair.

Only what I do, what I achieve,

becomes mine.

That is the measure of love.

Throughout life, the only things that truly belong to us are the fruits we have harvested and gathered.

That becomes “our report card of life.”

It can also be expressed and explained as “the measure and magnitude of faith and love.”

Though it may not be visible, by preparing diligently and making efforts,

although we don’t know when it will come true, when we do our best,

the foundation for hope is laid at last.

Even the one and only given human life must be prepared in advance, only those who give their best at this moment, who strive in the present, gain the fundamental driving power to achieve their desires and goals at last.

Of course, the level and degree may vary,

there are many people just the same with a can whose inside is empty, which makes a loud noise, complaining loudly without understanding the subject, they have been around quite many.

Those who do not change their words, thoughts, and actions, but seek to achieve their goals, are the most ignorant and greedy.

Human life was given by nature. If we do not follow its flow, it is always difficult, challenging, and painful.

The difficulties and pain are not caused by anyone else but by ourselves. We are the ones who dug the hole, rolled around in it, and set it on fire.

That is what it means to be human.

Regardless of East or West, many people know that we have to think out of the box to live is said for that reason.

There are no coincidences in the world, only inevitabilities disguised as coincidences exist.

There is a story of an ant and a grasshopper in Korea. It is not about diligent (the rich) and lazy (the poor) people but about the diversity of human life. The ant lives according to its given life, while the grasshopper lives as it is. The story implies that it is natural to live your life to the fullest in your own way.

Therefore, those who are faithful, adaptable, and eager to act with recognizing the importance of moment by moment with awareness and mindfulness will live life with less hardship, less difficulty, and less pain.

After all,

they will all get back to nature again.
